The Darkhold's Grip: Wanda's Transformation after Wandavision and into Doctor Strange Multiverse of Madness

The Seeds of Darkness: A Look at WandaVision's End Credits

WandaVision was a groundbreaking series that delved deep into the complexities of grief, loss, and the nature of reality. While the show's main plotline was captivating, it was the end credits that offered a chilling glimpse into Wanda Maximoff's future.

A Glimpse into the Future

The post-credits scene of WandaVision introduced the concept of the Scarlet Witch, a powerful and potentially dangerous figure from the Marvel Comics. It revealed that Wanda, in her quest for knowledge and power, had begun studying the Darkhold, an ancient and malevolent book of dark magic.

The Darkhold's Influence

The Darkhold is a powerful artifact that has corrupted many throughout history including Agatha Harkness who had possession of the Darkhold before she met Wanda. It feeds on negative emotions, such as grief, anger, and despair, amplifying them to dangerous levels. In the case of Wanda, the book exploited her deep sorrow over the loss of Vision and their children, leading her down a dark path.  In Agatha's case, it fed off of her sorrow with the loss of her own son Nicolas Scratch.

The Scarlet Witch's Descent

The Darkhold's influence is evident in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Wanda, now fully embracing the title of the Scarlet Witch but also seeming to be a different Wanda from previous movies. She is driven by a desperate desire to reunite with her children, no matter the cost. This leads her to commit horrific acts, including the destruction of entire universes.

While Wanda's actions in Multiverse of Madness are undeniably villainous, it's important to remember that she was a victim of circumstance. The Darkhold's corrupting influence, combined with her own grief and desperation, ultimately led her to embrace a darker side. Agatha Harkness without the Darkhold is a completely different person that who we saw in Wandavision.  I expect this to be the case when Wanda appears in the MCU during or after Vision Quest starring Paul Bettany.
